King of Swords in a tarot reading

The King of Swords sits enthroned with his blade held straight and level, so this tarot card represents intellectual authority, clear judgment, and truth applied with discipline. Upright he is the voice of logic, ethics, and impartial decisions, governing by reason rather than emotion. Beside fair cards like Justice he is wise and principled, while next to the Devil or Five of Swords he can turn rigid, controlling, or coldly manipulative.

As advice, the King of Swords tells you to set feelings aside, weigh the facts, and make the fair, rational call; argue from principle and keep your word. In a timeline or outcome position he can stand for an authoritative man, an expert, or a situation decided by clear reason and rules. Reversed, he warns of cold judgment, abuse of power, harsh criticism, or logic twisted to control.
